Mi verdadero amor

In middle school and high school, I took French. Knowing I wanted to be a language teacher, I decided to also take Spanish in college so I could be dual-certified. So at Rutgers University in 1996, I took my first Spanish class and fell in love with the language! (My instructor, María Tajes, was mainly to thank for that.) Three years later, I wrote this song in Spanish and then recorded it in a studio the following year. Here’s an excerpt!
